Back to School: Durable Footwear for Growing Feet
By Sunita Deshmukh
School shoes have a tough job — they need to survive playgrounds, long days, and feet that don't stay the same size for long. A few things actually matter more than style here.
Leave room to grow, but not too much. A thumb's width of space at the toe is the usual rule — too tight causes discomfort, too loose causes blisters and tripping.
Prioritize sole flexibility. Growing feet need shoes that bend where a foot naturally bends, not stiff soles that fight against movement.
Check the closure type. Velcro and laces both work — what matters is that the shoe stays secure through a full day of running around, not just standing still in the shop.
We stock a dedicated kids' range through the season, sized for exactly this kind of daily wear.
