5 Signs It's Time to Replace Your Formal Shoes
By Anil Patil
Formal shoes are built to last longer than most other footwear, which is exactly why people tend to hold onto them too long. Here's what actually signals it's time for a new pair.
1. The sole has worn unevenly. A little wear is normal. Uneven wear that's changed how you stand or walk isn't.
2. Creasing has turned into cracking. Leather creases with wear — that's fine. Once those creases turn into actual cracks, the structure underneath is compromised.
3. They no longer hold a polish. If shining them barely makes a difference anymore, the leather has likely dried out beyond what conditioning can fix.
4. The heel has worn down at an angle. This changes your posture more than people realize, and it's not something a cobbler can always fully correct.
5. They just don't feel the same. Sometimes it's simpler than a checklist — if the support isn't there anymore, trust that.
